Marco Ramirez currently works as a Senior Manager in Community Development and Programs for BRIDGE Housing Corporation, which is one of the fastest growing affordable housing developers in the Pacific region. In this capacity, Marco coordinates the implementation of activities that support the redevelopment of the Jordan Downs Public Housing Development—a large-scale revitalization effort that BRIDGE and its partners are undertaking in the Watts neighborhood of South Los Angeles.
Marco is a graduate of the University of Southern California’s Sol Price School of Public Policy, from which he received a Ph.D. in Policy, Planning, and Development, a Master’s degree in Leadership, and a Certificate in Public Management. His dissertation examined the factors that both promote and hinder public-sector collaboration in an era of resource scarcity and economic uncertainty. Marco also earned a Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration from the University of La Verne.
While enrolled in graduate school, Marco worked as a nonprofit Management Consultant. His clients were service organizations and funding intermediaries from Los Angeles County. Marco specialized in strategy development, leadership and management, event coordination, and civic engagement and participation.
To enhance his learning while completing his research, Marco taught college courses in Public Administration, Public Policy, and Urban Studies.
Since 2004, Marco has volunteered as a member of a Board of Directors for organizations that advocate for workforce development for individuals with physical disabilities, affordable housing construction, community capacity building through volunteerism, expand educational attainment in low-income neighborhoods and small business development.
